Nighttime Doha

I have to say that I am impressed with Doha at night - perhaps it has something to do with the city being at the water's edge, perhaps it's all that grandeur of new and innovative construction.  I like to see moonlight dappled on the calm sea of the Bay area, highlighted by the incandescent illumination emanating from highrise buildings, looking like brightly dressed soldiers against the skyline.  There is something really calming about it all: a sense of quiet, the smell of the ocean wind, and watching a dhow sailing softly across from one side of Al Corniche to the other.
We also discovered a little secret unknown to many in Doha, thanks to our friends.  Drinks at 10 in the evening on the eleventh floor of Le Cigale Hotel, on a terrace with glassed railings affording an uninterrupted view of the city, was truly wonderful.   It was a cool winter evening on the open terrace, and settling into soft down cushions, alongside gas heaters looking so much like artwork, we sipped on cocktails while laughing and chatting as the moon slowly glided across a clear night sky.

Good to have good memories.
